Scope of the Position

  • Responsible for generating sales with existing customers and developing opportunities with new customers within assigned territory.
  • Major Responsibilities
  • Scheduling appointments and visiting existing customers to review product needs and determining other opportunities.
  • Providing product quotes as required.
  • Organizing and attending joint sales calls with Vendors.
  • Opening new accounts.
  • Continuously updating customers on product changes and modifications.
  • Providing solutions to customers’ problems.
  • Attending Trade Shows and Conferences (if applicable).
  • Product introduction of new releases.
  • Liaising between customers and the company for up-to-date status of service, pricing and new product release launches.
  • Preparing reports for marketing and sales and keeping expense accounts.
  • Performing maintenance and updating of customers’ accounts including contact names for future sales.
  • Keeping up to date on new products, services, procedures and tools by attending training and departmental meetings
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and/or random drug screen, background check and to provide two professional references.

Other duties as assigned

A (20) sales call per week minimum is required from Cross Country Communications Outside Sales Representative with (5) hot, (5) warm, (10) cold calls, along with keeping contact with pre-existing customers of Cross Country Communications, if more sales calls are needed to make quota then Rep. should adjust to better his/her outcome in the sales field of telecommunications. Reps. will be in the office at 8am and out in the field by 9am, and back in the office at 4pm till 5pm (unless meeting with a customer) Monday-Friday, with Monday morning meeting starting at 8am every week. These meetings are to discuss up and coming projects, sales performance, jobs near completion, etc. Outside Sales Representative will set up calls a week in advance and will email upper management his/her schedule, for review. Upper management will go out with sales rep once a month on 2 calls (1) hot (1) cold. Rep will have a monthly sales quota of $10,000.00 per month. Rep. is expected to meet or exceed this quota.

Starting base salary will be based on experience in the Telecommunications field, average starting salary for an Outside Sales Representative at Cross Country Communications is $16,640.00 with 12% commission on each new sale of a phone systems. 6% on the sale of a refurbished phone systems. Commissions will be paid after phone system has been installed on top of your bi-weekly paycheck.

Outside Sales Representative reviews will be conducted once a year on the Reps. anniversary hire date, with a potential of a 3-5% base salary increase with bonuses possible at end of year (December). Bonus range from 5-20% of Outside Sales Representative base salary, depending on if Reps. sales performance.


  • 1-3 years in Business to Business Sales

Education & Training

Such knowledge is to be considered the minimum education required for performing the position responsibilities.

  • High School Diploma required.
  • College courses in Sales and/or Marketing an asset.
  • Product knowledge or industry experience an asset.

Physical Skill and Effort

  • The physical effort required to perform the job (e.g. sitting, standing, visual attention, lifting, climbing etc.)
  • Reading of work related material.
  • May require considerable visual attention with attention to detail.
  • Moderate travel to various locations (customers or company) within region.
  • Knowledge of Word, Excel and Telecommunication components
  • Outstanding communication skills, verbal and written skills.
  • Excellent personal skills with customers and employees
